Hey all. Tracy here.
As you may have noticed a few changes have been made - the BBC and Sky One folders have merged to create a new "The X Files On TV" folder.
Everything relating to any episode aired on any channel should be posted in the new folder.

eleanor is feeling more of a bitch than usual, and inspired by that I'm making an announcement about sig lengths as there's more than a few people that seem to be confused. This is basically my post from a few months ago with a couple of words changed (which are in bold):
"Exercise common sense with the sigs, people.
For the dumbass's amongst us, "common sense" means these rules:
* If you have 3 images, no text.
* If you have 2 images, no more than 2 lines of text.
* If you have 1 image, up to three lines of text.
Regardless of how many images you have (you can have as many as you want), the combined size can't be more than 75kb or greater than 400x200. Please don't ask me to find out the filesize for you, because since I can just tell - you should be able to too.
In keeping with my Insert-Dictator-Of-The-Month-Style rule around here, disobey this and I'll edit the sig myself. With something ridiculous, no doubt."

Evening all.
I've spoken to Mark tonight, and the problem with posts may be with the space images are taking up on the server. I can't remove any images for the time being due to Mark's memory issues, so we may have to put up with the problems for a wee while.
Anyway, the point of this announcement is to request that anyone using the server to post images elsewhere stop doing so. I'm a suspicious person by nature, and imagine that we may have a couple of naughties here who are (or have been, at least) uploading images to the board and then posting them on other boards/sites/whatever. If you're one of those people, then please don't - Mark's paying for this board and if it's not working due to people taking advantage of the space he's providing then that's out of order. If space wasn't an issue and people asked I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, but it is and they haven't and it is (if you follow). I'm not going to spend my time figuring out which images have never been posted here but are on the server so I can get my ass clamps out or anything, I'm just asking that if it has been happening it stops.

I know it's a pain in the arse, but there is nothing I can do about it. Mark can't do anything about it until his computer is fixed, and as far as I know Tracy can't do anything about it. Therefore, nothing can be done about it. Sorry, but that's the bottom line for the time being.

'Tis gone! Along with most of the threads. I've scanned through them all to look for reviews and the like, and kept all of those threads - except Clare's, which disappeared when my computer crashed. I don't know if Mark can find it floating around the internet and salvage it. I hope he can, but it's probably unlikely.
I've saved all the newspaper reviews that were posted (mostly by lucymarchmont - many thanks) on my computer, so if anyone wants me to post a thread containing those I can do so.
I hope I've not deleted anything anyone desperately wanted saving, but most of the folder was redundant and not particularly interesting after the fact.

Here is another dictat handed down from up on high, regarding posting images on the forum:
PHOTOS
Ask for permission from the owner of the image before you post it, unless:
1) It is a photo from corporate media
2) It says "you can reproduce this [et al]" on the page you got it from.
FANART
Post it with the name of the artist, their webpage (if available) and the URL of the webpage you got it from. Also, email the artist in question to tell them you have posted their image. Unless:
1) It says "please ask for permission [et al]" on the webpage
ANYTHING ELSE
Ask me, or somebody who sounds like they know what they're on about (eleanor, Caroline, Tracy etc). PM or email please, preferably PM.
I'm assuming I don't have to make a threat as to what will happen if this isn't followed.

Hey, this is Tracy here I've noticed that some people (myself included) are having problems posting - the post are just not appearing.
I'm not sure what that's about so this post isn't telliing y'all that it'll be better soon 'cause I have no idea. I hoping it'll be better soon but I'm just posting this so you don't think it's just your posts that are doing this.
Anyway, here's hoping it's sorted out soon - maybe Mark or eleanor know how to fix it.

In my post-The Truth moderating frenzy (I figured I can't let Tracy do all the work, and Mark sure as hell won't help out!), I'd like to remind everyone that this is a UK board, and that the only episodes up for discussion all over the board are those that have been shown on the BBC ie. not S9 and especially not The Truth.
It's over for a lot of us, but those who went unspoiled for The Truth will I'm sure appreciate how a thoughtless comment could easily piss off someone stuck in the dark ages and not filling Rupert Murdoch's pockets. And those who were spoiled/are spoiled but don't have Sky? Not everyone wants to be. It doesn't take a second to think about what you're posting and where.
I know this isn't a big problem here and I might sound a little harsh, but I think it's only fair.

Now, I'm not telling people what to do here.... actually, scratch that, I am.
I think it'd be best for the board as a whole (especially the regular UK members) if any more arguments and Haven crapola weren't raised here. Yes, I am aware of how hypocritical that sounds since I've been the one bringing it here most of the time but, well.. fuck that.
This doesn't mean don't mention the Haven as though it's Macbeth, but you get what I mean. Also, any long threads with 2/3 people just posting in 'em about issues NOT related to say, anything interesting (i.e. they are Haven related) - please keep 'em either off board, or use the PM function.
Anybody who ignores this is liable to have their messages randomly replaced with an inane joke - harsh huh? Never let it be said that we don't know how to kick ass over here. By the way, this goes for me too, so start thinking some up now Tracy, ikkle, eleanor, Brian and the rest of the mods...
I want everyone to feel welcome, but I want those who already feel welcome to be happy too.

The forum went into meltdown today. Something to do with a Unix bug which doesn't function correctly on September 9. Luckily, after some hunting I've fixed it. All topics are still here and no posts are missing. Enjoy!

New Folders / Creative Section
I might be creating fanfic/image/creative sections if there is enough interest. I hope to have new sections for this up on the website soon too, in collaboration with Andy from axfp.co.uk (go over there, the man is just *too* talented, and only a few minutes journey from me!)
X-Files on your WAP phone
Again, with Andy from axfp.co.uk, I'm looking into having the site avaliable via mobile phone - a UK/world first too Will have some testing screenshots and more info avaliable at the site soon!
